From August to December 2009 I will be based at the Wycliffe Centre near High Wycombe, where I will be taking part in the European Training Programme (ETP). This course provides the initial training people need to take up a specific overseas assignment. It is split into two key sections:
· Language and Culture Acquisition (LACA)
· Assignment Related Training (ART) (with a focus on Linguistics, Literacy or Scripture Use)
During the ART section of the course I hope to follow the Linguistics track, learning how to develop a writing system and analyse the grammar of an unwritten language.
Following this training, I hope to take up an overseas assignment early in 2010. As yet, details have not been confirmed, but I would like to go back to Burkina Faso if possible. This assignment should last for 18 months – 2 years, and will allow me to put the training I have received into practice.
